  • Overview

    Under the direction of the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician – Production is responsible for day-to-day comprehensive pharmacy technician services in a complex Home infusion pharmacy. This may include compounding medications using sterile aseptic technique, running total parenteral nutrition, maintaining the ISO 7 buffer room, abiding by USP 797 regulations, and inventory management.

    Responsibilities/Job Description

    Partner with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to ensure pharmacy patients receive their medication(s) accurately, safely, in accordance with all legal requirements and policies and in a professional and timely manner.

     

    Under the direction of the pharmacist, fulfill and prepare prescription orders for delivery in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with all legal, regulatory agency and Fairview requirements.

     

    Maintain appropriate stock levels of supplies to use within the buffer room on a daily basis. Be able to lift 25 Kg.  

     

    Upon completion of training, be able to compound hazardous drugs in a negative pressure room.

     

    Other responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Experience

    • Six months pharmacy technician experience, completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited pharmacy technician training program OR one year of experience as a pharmacy clerk or like position within a healthcare setting. 
    • IV Sterile compounding background

     

    License/Certification/Registration

    • Registered Technician with Minnesota Board of Pharmacy

     

    Preferred Education

    • Graduate of Pharmacy Technician program
    • Completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited pharmacy technician training program

    Experience

    • IV Sterile compounding background 

    License/Certification/Registration

    • Pharmacy certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board
    • Sterile Compounding Certification Board
