Unit 4A’s program is designed to address the age specific issues of young adults. Admissions to the unit are generally persons between the ages of 18 and 25 years old. Treatment is built around a deep appreciation for the unique stresses and life changing choices that accompany young adulthood such as, exploring career options, establishing independence – many young adults have reached the age of legal independence but are not yet functionally or financially independent of their parents/guardians and wish to have them included in their health care. Communication and engagement is key towards stabilization and success upon discharge. Unit 4A is a newer behavioral health unit that is composed of passionate staff that are acutely in tuned with the needs of this population.
