  • Overview

    Work with collection agencies on bad debt accounts.  Collaborate with the court system for worker's compensation intervention claims.  Process bankruptcy and probate accounts.

    Responsibilities/Job Description

    • Reviews bankruptcy notices received from bankruptcy court and files the necessary claims with the bankruptcy court.
    • Reconciles self-pay client billing issues.
    • Processes intervention requests for workers compensation accounts
    • Processes accounts in the bad debt system after appropriate approvals are obtained.
    • Responds to all agency inquiries and correspondence.
    • Prepares suite authorizations and garnishment requests.
    • Processes all probate claims through the appropriate probate court.
    • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
    • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements
    • Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED

     

    Experience:

    • Two or more years of office experience, preferably in healthcare.  
    • Knowledge of  medical billing

    Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent

     

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

    • Attention to Detail:  Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task.  
    • Computer Skills:  Basic ability to use a computer and applications that are associated with performing basic work tasks (navigate in Windows, Outlook, Epic EHR, etc.).
    • Data Entry:  Skilled in entering data and calculating items for processing; input of data into computer systems
    • Interpersonal Communication:  Skilled in developing effective rapport with customers, co-workers, or families, actively listening to develop a positive connection.
    • Math Basic Skills:  Knowledge and skills related to applying mathematical tools and methods for routine calculations.
    • Problem Solving:  Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; utilizes appropriate tools and staff resources along with sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
