    Fairview Health Services is looking for a Nursing Station Technician (NST) for the Outpatient Observation Medical Surgical Unit at Fairview Ridges Hospital (Burnsville, MN) to work under direction of nursing personnel to provide patient care while functioning as a nursing assistant and as a health unit coordinator.

     

    About this position:

    • This position is working on the day (7 am - 3:30 pm) and/or evening shift (3 pm - 11:30 pm)
    • 8 hour shifts
    • Every other weekend rotation (F,S,S)
    • Can be 16 or 20 hours per week, with opportunity to pick up extra shifts.

    Responsibilities/Job Description:

    The NST assumes delegated responsibilities as appropriate, and adheres to all relevant policies, procedures and practice guidelines.

     

    Duties may include:

    • Patient cares with includes vitals, bathing, feeding, answering call lights and transporting
    • The NST also will help take care of the environment (by stocking, cleaning, and maintaining rooms) and use of equipment, phones, clerical, transcription, and coordinate the flow of communication on the unit

    Qualifications

    Required

    • BLS for healthcare providers
    • Previous Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), Nursing Assistant (NA) or Nursing Station Technician (NST) experience or currently a nursing student with at least one semester of nursing clinicals completed
    • Knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, and hospital procedures
    • strong customer service, phone and interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to work with diverse patient population.

    Preferred

    • Vocational/Technical training or Associate Degree
