  • Overview

    This position is a liaison between Corporate Information Technology and Fairview Pharmacy Services. The primary responsibilities are to incorporate medication management initiatives into Fairview electronic medical record and to support successful design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the electronic medication order process.

    Responsibilities/Job Description

    • Supports successful design, implementation and support of the EPIC project.
    • Coordinates with key user representatives to develop project task plans, timelines, and schedules.
    • Coordinates and performs systems testing.
    • Develops and monitors measurements of process improvements identified in system solutions.
    • Incorporates medication management initiatives into Fairview’s inpatient clinical information system.
    • Applies standards of practice (clinical policies, regulatory requirements, etc.) to system requirements design, and configuration. Recommendations support best practice.
    • Shares responsibility for ongoing support of Pharmacy and IS software applications including EPIC, Medispan, and Pyxis.
    • Provides on-site support as needed.
    • Identifies system requirements in base clinical areas.
    • Acts as a liaison with staff, management and other customer groups to ensure successful implementation and ongoing success.
    • Develops training plans, course curriculum, and participates in training classes.
    • Acts as first point of contact/resource for end users for issues related to pharmacy information systems. Shares on-call responsibilities.
    • Monitors system performance.
    • Acts as a liaison with application vendors.
    • Documents problems and resolutions.
    • Implements escalation procedures where appropriate.

    Qualifications

    Required

     

    Education

    • BS Degree in Pharmacy

    Experience

    • Two years experience as an inpatient pharmacist

    License/Certification/Registration

    • Current license with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy

    Preferred

    Education

    • PharmD 

    License/Certification/Registration

    • Epic Willow Inpatient Certification
