    University of Minnesota Medical Center is the flagship location for University of Minnesota Health, and is comprised of two hospitals and dozens of adult specialty clinics on both the East and West banks of the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis.

    This location offers the widest range of hospital and clinical services provided through University of Minnesota Health. Complete services range from primary care, emergency care and the delivery of thousands of babies each year, to care of patients with the most complex conditions. Areas of specialization include solid organ and blood and marrow transplantation, heart disease and cancer.

    The Receptionist is responsible for greeting customers, providing information, communicating with departments. Performs various clerical duties such as answering telephones, recording messages, preparing schedules, copying materials, typing, filing, and other duties as assigned.

     

    This is a casual position so the hours are not guaranteed but most commonly cover vacations, LOA's or sick calls. This position is not beneift eligible. 

    Responsibilities/Job Description

    • Greets customers in a polite, prompt, helpful manner. Provides any necessary instructions/directions. Inform appropriate person/department of person’s arrival
    • Completes necessary paperwork such as encounter forms and parking validations. Uses computer system to generate information as required.
    • Updates information, collects copays when appropriate, provides any necessary forms needing completion, obtains signatures as necessary.
    • Maintains clean, orderly waiting area.
    • Answers phones in a pleasant manner and deals with customer needs expeditiously.
    • Supplements office staff as reception tasks permit by assisting with photocopying, computer input/typing, scheduling, and other work as directed.

     

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Previous experience in customer service.

     

    Preferred:

    • Prefer six months experience in a health care setting.
    • Pleasant and cheerful disposition, able to interact with the public and provide excellent customer service.
    • Able to work in the time assigned.
    • Able to empathize with families in stressful situations.
    • Respectful and comfortable working with people of diverse backgrounds.
