    • 19 beds in the main section and 7 in section two.
    • Provides care to 30,000 patients annually, average 80 daily.
    • 50% of patients are mental health.
    • Multidisciplinary approach to all emergencies.
    • Care delivery team: Board Certified/Eligible ED physicians, RNs, ER Techs, Health Unit Coordinators, Psych Associates, 4-5 patients per RN.

     

    This position will be working 48 hours every two weeks on the evening shift, 8 hour shifts, every other weekend.  The position is benefit eligible.

    Responsibilities/Job Description

    The registered nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible and accountable for patient assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention application, and the identification and evaluation of outcomes for patients of all ages and populations. 

     

    The scope of practice extends from a patient’s entry into the emergency room, and continues from triage through discharge. Care is centered on patients and families experiencing acute or chronic, actual or potential physical or psychosocial problems. Unique to emergency nursing are processes that require resuscitation and/or stabilization.

    • Provide care to all ages and acuity of patients that seek medical care. Some unique patient populations include pediatrics, sexual assault survivors, psychiatric, trauma, solid organ and blood and marrow transplant, substance abuse.
    • Safely employs (sets-up, utilizes and trouble shoots) the following monitoring devices;

      • Arterial lines
      • Cardiac Monitoring
      • EKGs
      • EtCO2
      • Doppler
    • Manages complex medication and infusion therapies
    • Care for patient undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit.
    • Demonstrates ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • BLS
    • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and PALS certification within one year of hire.
    • 6 months of Med Surg experience required.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 1 year of Ermergency Department, peds or critical care experience
    • BSN.
    • Certification by the Emergency Nurses Association (CEN) and/or course in advanced trauma nursing (CATN).
