    Fairview Health Services is looking an Administrative Nursing Supervisor to work at Fairview Ridges Hospital which is located in Burnsville, MN.  This role represents administration and management on a 24/7 basis in the provision of leadership to expedite and ensure efficient hospital operations.  It guides in the appropriate placement within our 150 bed Hospital and safe provision of patient care services which: address and meet clinical patient needs, employs wise and appropriate stewardship of resources, and assures and enhances a positive patient experience. 


    Fairview Ridges opened in 1985 and provides comprehensive, specialized care to southern the Twin Cities community.  The hospital provides care for entire family, including pediatric emergency care and neonatal intensive care. It offers onsite access to specialists in everything from heart to cancer care to midwifery and sports medicine. Fairview Ridges is a Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association Blue Distinction center for Spine Surgery.  


    This position is Casual hours to help fill in on any shift;  either pre-planned or last minute requests.

    • Position Reports to Nurse Manager
    • Works closely with patient care supervisors and nurse managers, Administration team, security, various charge nurses throughout the whole hospital, safety and risk team members.
    • Shifts are 4, 8, 12 hours in length

    Responsibilities/Job Description

    Job Duties/expectations include:

    • Serving as the representative of hospital administration
    • Responsible for human resources and financial management during assigned shift to maintain quality service, positive employee relations, and fiscal expectations 
    • Allocates daily staffing resources
    • Patient and Employee Safety: Demonstrates understanding of role in developing and maintaining an environment that is safe for patients, visitors, and employees.
    • Serves as a resource, coach and mentor to hospital employees
    • Supervises patient flow issues throughout the hospital
    • Ensures that established standards of professional nursing practice and patient care excellence are being met
    • Organization expectations; as applicable


    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field. If Bachelor’s is not in nursing, then must have a Master’s degree in nursing
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
    • Some supervisory/management/leader experience in health care
    • Current MN RN licensure or by start date
    • Ability to provide proof of written validation of current basic life support (BLS) competency or by the end of orientation.
    • RN work experience in an acute care setting
    • Attention to detail

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Advance Degree in nursing or related field
    • Three to five years of healthcare related leadership, supervisory, or management experience, which may include charge RN or council leadership
    • Knowledge and resources to ensure that efficient hospital operations run smoothly when most ancillary departments are closed. 
    • Knowledge of resources to interact with Risk Management and legal issues.


    Additional requirements/skills (must be obtained or completed within a period of time):

    • Leadership skills; including good verbal and written communication, decision making, problem solving, negotiation and conflict management. 
    • Ability to problem solve effectively
    • Must be able to interact well with Public Relations, Security, other hospitals and providers on a regular basis. 
    • Must be proficient in using EPIC programs of Clindoc, ASAP, ADT and others as needed.

    Physical demands:  Sitting, standing, walking, lifting-max 35lbs, push/pull-max. 35 lbs, balance, stooping/crouching, grasping, writing, finger dexterity/keyboarding, reaching, color vision, operate machinery, physical presence at work


    Mental Demands:  Frequent people contact, irregular work schedule, supervisory skills, detailed work, frequent interruptions, decision making skills, concentration, ability to work independent, multiple concurrent tasks, frequent deadlines, organizational skills, ability to collaborate with others, express ideas orally, remember and apply information, understand/follow basic instruction
