Fairview Health Services is looking for a Surgical Technologist to work in our Operating Room at The University of Minnesota Medical Center -East Bank campus (Minneapolis, MN). Come be a part of our growth as we are adding 4 additional rooms to support neuro case, including a in suite MRI as well as the entire floor will be rennovated.
The East Bank Campus has 21 operating rooms and performs an average of 60 cases per day. We provide state of the art surgical suites for Adult patients needing surgical intervention. Surgical services are provided to patients in the following clinical specialties: general, dental, eye, ear, nose, and throat, endoscopy, vascular, thoracic, open heart, orthopedics, neurology, bariatrics, solid organ transplant, gynecologic, colo-rectal, urology, plastics, and robotics.
Position can be either 64, 72, or 80 hours in two weeks (exact amount determined at offer), all fully benefit eligible. Rotating day/evening shift with occasional night shifts. Schedule includes rotation of holiday, weekend and call time. Call starts at the end of a shift: 3:15pm, 5:30pm, 7:30pm and ends at 6:45 am on weekdays. Weekend call or schedule shift combination is typically 48 hours and scheduled one weekend in four weekends. May be assigned more than one call shift during week. Call response time is currently 30 minutes.

The Surgical Technologist performs the functions of a surgical technologist as a scrub person during surgical procedures providing patient care services appropriate to the age of the patients (ages pediatric through geriatric) served during the shift of duty in collaboration with the RN. Is responsible for adhering to standards of nursing practice and patient care, correct use of supplies/equipment and maintenance of the surgical suite under the direction of a RN.
Serves as scrub person during operative procedures
Provides patient care
Corrects use and setup of supplies and equipment
Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
