  • Overview

    The primary role of the Lead Unified Communications Engineer is to lead the design of technical collaboration, telecommunications, conferencing and contact center plans through the analysis of software, hardware and existing applications and solutions. Serves as Lead Engineer for all Unified Communications solutions and planning while performing system maintenance, testing, and evaluation. Responsible for defining and maintaining technology roadmap and strategies in alignment with the business needs. Manages working relationships with vendors through the phases of development and implementation of systems solutions.

    Job Expectations:


    • Designs tactical solution planning through the analysis of software, hardware and application solutions. 
    • Engineers Unified Communications and Collaboration applications.  
    • Serves as Lead Engineer for team while planning and performing system maintenance, testing, and evaluation. 
    • Serves as subject matter expert in situations where complex issue resolution is needed.
    • Manages working relationships with vendors through the phases of development and implementation of Unified Communications systems solutions. 
    • Ensures vendor delivered solutions meet enterprise technical standards, as well as design and performance requirements. 
    • Conducts impact analysis on vendor solutions with regard to existing systems and business processes.
    • Ensures systems standards and guidelines are followed across the enterprise. 
    • Provides technical guidance on projects where Unified Communications system integration is required and develops technical requirements and estimates as appropriate. 
    • Serves on a team on-call rotation schedule to address emergency production issues.
    • Collaborates with Architecture team on initiatives and enterprise system design standards. 
    • Serves as mentor to other Unified Communications engineers and technical analysts.
    • Manages the delivery of technical solutions for projects and ensures they meet expectations regarding cost, schedule and scope. 
    • Coordinate with vendors to manage project deliverables and minimize adverse impacts on existing systems and business processes.
    • Evaluates new systems tools and technologies. 
    • Defines technical roadmaps to meet Fairview’s business strategy and makes recommendations for future updates.
    • Research, test, document and apply best practices and industry standard processes.
    • Provide system training and documentation to other technical staff.
    • Document network issues and resolutions in defined repository and per standards.







    • Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years equivalent experience with focus in VoIP, Contact Center and Collaboration Solutions.
    • 7+ years of relevant experience.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Unified Communications Systems and technology design and development. 
    • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
    • Solid understanding of technical infrastructure such as system management, support, and operations.
    • Excellent knowledge and background in Unified Communications solutions, tools and best practices.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, across all levels of the organization and can deliver technical information to a non-technical audience.
    • Proven experience in leading vendor and technical staff in troubleshooting complex issues and in Unified Communications and Collaboration system development.


    • In depth experience of Unified Communications Vendor Solutions
    • Demonstrated industry knowledge of Collaboration and Unified Communications technology
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
    • Additional Requirements (must be obtained or completed within a period of time)
