    Fairview Ridges Hospital is a 150 bed facility, located in Burnsville, MN.


    We have a great opportunity for a Nursing Station Technician (NST) to be a part of our award winning, caring and committed staff in delivering patient and family centered care.  The NST will gain experience working with a wide variety of patients working in our Float Pool under the direction of nursing personnel.  Float Pool NSTs at Fairview Ridges Hospital will support the medical, surgical, cardiac, oncology, orthopedics, spine, and post-partum units. Staffing assignments are determined on a per shift basis.


    About this position:

    • This position works 64 hours every two weeks, with an opportunity to pick up additional shifts
    • 8 hour shifts, on the evening shift (3pm -1130 pm)
    • Working every other weekend

    Responsibilities/Job Description

    The Nursing Station Technician (NST) works under direction of nursing personnel to provide patient care while functioning as a nursing assistant (NA) and as a health unit coordinator (HUC).   Duties may include: patient cares, vitals, bathing, feeding, answering call lights, transporting, care of environment (by stocking, cleaning, and maintaining rooms) and use of equipment, phones, clerical, transcription, and coordinate the flow of communication on the unit.  May work as a patient care attendant. 


    The NST will:

    • Perform delegated nursing functions to assigned patients including personal care, ambulation, exercise, nutrition, specimen collection and vital signs.
    • Observe patients and reports any changes in status to appropriate staff.
    • Communicate effectively with all members of the health care team.
    • Perform environmental and other responsibilities as assigned.
    • Stock supplies, organizes patient/unit areas, and cleans equipment
    • Transport patients, equipment, and supplies
    • Prepare rooms for admissions
    • Maintain unit communication systems and central desk area.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Requires previous experience as a Nursing Assistant, Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) OR currently a nursing student with at least 1 semester of nursing clinicals completed.
    • Must have computer competencies including computer-based charting.
    • BLS for healthcare providers

    Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Strongly prefer Nursing Assistant training and 1 year of hospital based Nursing Assistant experience.
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with a diverse patient population, multi-tasking abilities, excellent customer service, communication and teamwork skills
    • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
    • Strong customer service skills
